Husam Waksa, a brand that represents his commercial name as well as an emerging group of companies in the current Malaysian business landscape. Husam, received his early school education, mainly in Arabic and science stream, from Maahad Al Mashoor Al Islami and SMKA Al Irshad both in Penang. He obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Technology (Information System) minoring in Corporate Management from Universiti Teknologi Petronas.
Husam never utilized his degree to obtain employment. Instead he espoused further the entrepreneurial trait that he discovered and put to practice when he was 19. Husam now holds a position of Director in seven companies based in Riyadh and Kuala Lumpur. He is currently the Vice President and Chief Executive of his group of companies in Malaysia. Being a person who is very passionate about promoting entrepreneurship, Husam also is highly keen on education. He has been actively invited to deliver talks, speeches and present papers in various events held by government and academic institutions. He was the founder of Young Entrepreneur Club (YEC) in Universiti Teknologi Petronas and the founding President of his school's, Maahad Al Mashoor Al Islami, Alumni Association. He is also a member of an exclusive charity organization in Perak named Kelab Bakti Gunung Keledang founded by Almarhum YTM Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al Haj.
Husam was formerly a committee member of the Penang Malay Businessmen and Industrialist Association Malaysia and the Treasurer of Penang Malay Chamber of Commerce Malaysia Youth Wing. He is also active at international level where he sits in committee and chair several task force groups in the Indonesia Malaysia Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) and LIMA DASAR under the portfolio of Ministry of International Trade and Industry.
Husam was also the brainchild behind the biggest international trade exhibition in Northern Region, Malaysia in conjunction of Second LIMA DASAR Summit 2011 in Penang, where he was also the Chairperson and mooted the first LIMA DASAR Trade Fair in Satun Province of Thailand on year 2010.
He was the youngest committee member of Penang Government Executive Council for the portfolio of International Trade and Industry chaired by YB Dato’ Mansor Bin Haji Osman, Deputy Chief Minister (1) of Penang (2010 – 2013) and was an Associate-Director of Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS). He is currently the Board of Trustees of Malaysia Cancer Foundation.
Mohd Fitri was born in Penang. He obtained his diploma in Human Resource Management at Universiti Putra Malaysia and his degree in Political Science in Universiti Sains Malaysia. Fitri started his carrier as a special officer to the Deputy Chief Minister (1) of Penang. He is active with Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (ABIM) and his contributions has been recognized as he was awarded with ‘Anugerah Tokoh Belia Seberang Perai Selatan’ (Outstanding Youth Award) in 2006.
Fitri is an active columnist writer and he touches various issues and topics mainly in Majalah i, Majalah Dian and Majalah Fardhu Ain. In addition his writing had also been published in Dewan Agama and Falsafah magazines. He was the backbone of Penang Islamic Foundation (Yayasan Islam Pulau Pinang) and within his tenure the foundation had officially been established. Fitri is one of the pioneers for the establishment of Guar Kepah Archeological Heritage Gallery, in conjunction with Penang State Government.
Fitri as well founded Penang Liberty Center and mooted the Lebuh Acheh Interpretation Center, a project that promotes art,culture and heritage within the Muslim Enclave in Penang.
Tunku ‘Abidin was educated at the Kuala Lumpur Alice Smith School, Marlborough College and the London School of Economics and Political Science, where he obtained his BSc in Government and Sociology and MSc in Comparative Politics and Imperial History. Tunku ‘Abidin worked in several London-based think tanks and the Houses of Parliament before moving to Washington DC to join the World Bank as a Public Sector Consultant.
Upon returning to Kuala Lumpur in 2008, Tunku ‘Abidin worked at the United Nations Development Programme and the KRA Group before becoming a Research Fellow at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore from March 2009 to August 2010. Throughout, he helped to develop the Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS, formerly known as the Malaysia Think Tank) which he co-founded in 2006, and maintained his regular column Abiding Times in theSun from March 2008 to August 2011, occasionally writing elsewhere as well. Since September 2011 he has been in the Star every Friday, Roaming Beyond the Fence.
Tunku ‘Abidin authored the official book for the Installation of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar and also led a major project to revitalise the Negeri Sembilan State Anthem. He sits on the Boards of Yayasan Munarah and Yayasan Chow Kit and is an Honorary Major in Regiment 508 of the Askar Wataniah (Territorial Army). He is also Patron of the Society of Malaysian Contemporary Composers and the Penang Symphony and Junior Orchestras.
In his various roles he has been interviewed for numerous television programmes, magazines and newspaper features.
He was born in Penang on the 24th of July 1977, received his early education at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Al Mashoor (L), Pulau Pinang dan Malay College Kuala Kangsar, Perak. Dato’ Khusyairie then went to United Kingdom for further studies. He was an active student and his ability in the area of ICT earned him recognition as a ‘UNIX Systems Certified Professional’ from Learning Tree International. Started his career as a Network Architect with Netdecisions Plc in London, he then continued his career as a technical Architecture Manager with Universal Music International UK. Based on his expertise in ICT, he was appointed as an E-Commerce Consultant in AIG Data Center Inc, UK. After 5 years of working abroad, Dato’ Khusyairie decided to return to Malaysia where he joined Johawaki Group as the Chief Information Technology Officer.
Dato’ Khusyairie is now the CEO of KABAZ, a fully Bumiputera-owned company, the only company to received endorsement from Telekom Malaysia Berhad as a ‘Platinum Business Partner’ that owns Interactive Customer Centers that supports and monitors TM IPVPN operations. Due to the excellent performance, KABAZ was awarded the ‘Best Platinum Partnership Performance’ for two consecutive years 2007 and 2008 by TM. In 2009, KABAZ was received the ‘Best Network Operation Center Award’. In 2010, KABAZ received the ‘Service Excellence Award (1st place) and in 2011, KABAZ received two awards – Service Assurance Excellence (Winner) and ICT ‘WORK-IT-OUT’.
Dato’ Amir is an Honorable member of Persatuan Kebajikan Bekas Anggota Skuad 69 Polis Diraja Malaysia as well as a member of Malay College Old Boys Association (MCOBA). He is also an Honorable member of Yayasan Ummah Pulau Pinang that was set up to help in governing the development and progress of Sekolah Agama Rakyat Pulau Pinang. He also contributed in monetary as well as IT facilities and training to Bumiputera students at school and university.
